ISing welcomes singers of all types. There is no audition required to join, although it is quite helpful if you can read music. We do ask that you attend at least 75% of all rehearsals to be prepared to participate fully in performances.
We are currently at capacity in the soprano and alto sections, but are actively recruiting tenors and basses, especially low basses.
We usually run two "seasons" of music culminating in approximately 3 performances. The fall-winter season begins rehearsing in September and concludes in December. The Spring season runs from mid-January with performances in April or May. Each season ISing chooses a non-profit organization from the community to receive the donations collected at the concerts. This has become a wonderful tradition allowing our singers and community to give back and giving an opportunity for worthy organizations to get their word out. Visit the history page for more information on our benefit performances.
Musicians pay a choir fee each season and are provided with a set of music which is theirs to keep. Musicians are also asked to contribute to the administrative work of ISing Community Choir in some fashion, which could be anything from setting up equipment at performances to serving on the Board of Directors.
The choir rehearses once a week, September through May-ish, on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ on 6th and Watson in Beaverton. You are welcome to visit a rehearsalto get the feel for how things go before making the commitment to join.
One of the missions of ISing is to offer singers an opportunity to tour. In June/July of 2008, ISing will be visiting Yorkshire, England at the invitation of the Renaissance Voices Chamber Choir
